If you've paid for professional window tinting in Los Angeles, you know the math doesn't quite work in your favor. You spend $400 to $700 for a quality install, drive off happy, and then a year later your kid's backpack scratches the rear door tint. Or someone breaks into your car. Or you realize the shade is too light. Or unlucky bubbling in a heat wave. In every one of those scenarios, your manufacturer warranty says: "Sorry, that's not a defect."
TintGuard fixes that.
TintGuard is a no-fault, monthly subscription warranty offered exclusively by Rapid Window Tinting in Los Angeles. As long as you're an active member, we re-tint your side windows for any reason, as many times as needed — using the same grade of film you started with. Plans start at $12 per month. No contract. No claims paperwork.
In this post, we'll walk through exactly what TintGuard covers, how it compares to a standard tint film warranty, the four pricing tiers (TintGuard Black and Plus, each in Full and Front-2 coverage), and how to enroll. By the end you'll know whether TintGuard makes sense for your car.
What's wrong with the standard window tint warranty?
Most quality window films — including the XR Black and XR Plus films we install — come with a manufacturer lifetime warranty. But it only covers four things: bubbling, peeling, cracking, and color shift / fading. Everything else is on you.
That means scratches from keys, dog claws, or rough car washes aren't covered. Neither is break-in damage, vandalism, accidental damage during use, ice scraper damage, or a change of heart about your tint shade. None of that is the manufacturer's fault, so none of it is covered. Until now, those repairs were on you — usually $200 to $400 for all four side windows.
TintGuard exists to cover the gap between "manufacturer's fault" and "the rest of real life."
How TintGuard works
TintGuard is a monthly subscription. You pay $12 to $29 a month depending on your plan, and any time something happens to your covered side windows — for any reason — you bring the car back and we re-tint, no charge.
Four steps: (1) Enroll at install with baseline photos of your windows. (2) Drive worry-free, charged monthly. (3) Something happens? Text us a photo or call (323) 358-2520 — we don't ask what caused it. (4) We re-tint free at our Sunset Blvd shop, same film grade, no deductible, ever.
Three light guardrails keep the plan fair: a 30-day initial waiting period after you enroll, 45 days between re-tints on the same window, and all re-tints performed at Rapid Window Tinting. That's it. No claim limits, no yearly cap, no deductible, no paperwork.
The four TintGuard plans — full pricing
TintGuard comes in two film tiers (set by the film already on your car) and two coverage levels (your choice). Four plans:
Plan | Monthly | Annual prepay | Extra household car |
|---|---|---|---|
Black Full (all 4 windows) | $19/mo | $199/yr (save $29) | $14/mo |
Black Front-2 (front only) | $12/mo | $125/yr (save $19) | $9/mo |
Plus Full (all 4 windows) | $29/mo | $299/yr (save $49) | $22/mo |
Plus Front-2 (front only) | $18/mo | $185/yr (save $31) | $13/mo |
Across all plans: $39 one-time transfer fee if you sell your vehicle. $20 processing fee on annual cancellations. No contract — cancel monthly with 30 days notice. For reference, our standard SUV install is $425 for XR Black, $625 for XR Plus.
What's covered (no fault, no questions)
Bubbling, peeling, lifting, hazing, or discoloration
Fading or color shift (the "purple tint" effect)
Scratches, scuffs, knife cuts
Break-in, theft, or vandalism damage
Accidental damage caused by you, a passenger, a child, or a pet
Damage from car washes, ice scrapers, or window cleaning
You want a different VLT shade — once per 12-month period, subject to California law
Any other reason at your discretion
You don't need to provide a cause, file a police report, or prove the damage wasn't your fault. If you ask for a re-tint, we re-tint.
What's NOT covered
Windshield, rear glass, or sunroof (side windows only)
Glass repair or replacement — TintGuard covers film, not glass
Tint installed by another shop (unless inspected and accepted in writing)
Commercial / ride-share / fleet use (needs separate commercial addendum)
Acts of war or declared natural disasters (file with insurance)

Why a monthly subscription?
Three reasons. First, you only pay while you need it — sell the car, stop paying. Second, monthly pricing keeps the entry price under $20, instead of one big lifetime fee priced for the worst-case customer. Third, it keeps us accountable — if you stop seeing value, you can cancel.
If monthly billing isn't for you, prepay annually and save 12-15%. Same coverage, one payment. Annual prices: $125-$299/yr depending on plan.
Switching plans later
Easy. Upgrade Front-2 to Full anytime — we prorate the difference and apply a 30-day wait to the newly added rear windows. Front coverage continues without a gap. Downgrade Full to Front-2 takes effect at the next billing cycle, no fee. If you change films (Black ↔ Plus), your tier follows the film automatically with prorated billing and no new waiting period.
How TintGuard compares to other LA window tint shops
A lot of LA window tint shops offer "lifetime warranties" — but read carefully: those are usually the manufacturer film warranty repackaged, covering only defects. Some shops offer paid extended warranties with $50-$150 deductibles, lifetime claim caps, "reasonable wear and tear" loopholes, and long claim approval processes.
TintGuard has none of that. No deductible. No claim cap. No "reasonable" judgment call. If you say "the tint needs to be redone," we redo it.
Who should enroll?
TintGuard makes the most sense for parents with kids who throw backpacks at windows, dog owners with pets in the back seat, anyone parked on the street overnight in a break-in-prone neighborhood, people with leather interior who chose XR Plus for the heat rejection, car enthusiasts who change their minds about shade, and anyone who hates surprise repair bills more than predictable monthly subscriptions.
How to enroll
Three ways: (1) At install — mention TintGuard when we write up your tint job, easiest path. (2) Call (323) 358-2520 — we'll set you up over the phone, bring the vehicle in for baseline photos within 7 days. (3) Walk in at 5300 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027 — bring your car, takes about 15 minutes. You'll need: VIN, license plate, valid payment method (credit, debit, or ACH).
Frequently asked questions
Is TintGuard insurance? No. It's a service plan — we commit to perform a service (re-tint your side windows) as long as you stay enrolled. Your auto insurance and the film manufacturer warranty are separate.
Can I really claim for any reason? Yes. We don't ask what happened. The plan is no-fault.
What if I miss a payment? We retry your card up to 3 times over 7 days. If it still fails, coverage pauses until you update payment. Reactivation triggers a new 30-day waiting period.
Lyft driver? You'll need a commercial addendum. Standard TintGuard isn't designed for rideshare-level wear.
Leased car? Yes — the plan stays with the VIN, not the title.
Selling the car? Transfer the plan to the new owner for a one-time $39 fee, or cancel.
Where are you located? 5300 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027. Easy access from the 101 and 110 freeways. Call (323) 358-2520.
The bottom line
If you're getting professional window tinting in Los Angeles in 2026, you have two choices: pay for the install and hope nothing goes wrong, paying $200-$400 out of pocket if it does — or add TintGuard for $12-$29 a month and re-tint as many times as you need, for any reason. For most customers, option two pays for itself within the first claim.
Ready to enroll? Call (323) 358-2520 or stop by 5300 Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles. We'll have you set up in 15 minutes.
